How To Turn One Idea Into 50 Pieces Of Content

Here’s what to do if you’ve run out of content ideas.

I used to work in editorial about a decade ago. I would have writers come to me and they were writing career advice for the job search and they would write an article along the lines of “10 Things You Have to Know Before Your Next Interview” and then they would think they were done.

They would say, “Sara, I don't know what to write next.” And I would say to them, “Do you know how many articles we have just about the question ‘Tell me about yourself?’”

We have:

  • The best way to answer it

  • The worst way to answer it

  • Three ways to answer it

  • How to answer it with storytelling

  • The weirdest way I ever answered it

  • and so on and so forth….

It's one question. Imagine if you did that for 50 common questions about a job interview.

When you take one idea and you think about every single way that you can flip it around, talk about it differently, change your style, or make the article longer or shorter, — you can always come up with more content ideas on the same subject.

And then you can do that for subject matter over subject matter.
